XRP Ledger Connects With SWIFT via Gatehub, New Document Confirms
In a significant breakthrough, the XRP Ledger (XRPL) has confirmed its operational connectivity with the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) network through Gatehub. This development has sparked immense interest within the cryptocurrency and blockchain space.
The news was made public by crypto researcher SMQKE on Twitter, sharing an image showcasing a technical diagram from Purdue University research publication that highlights GateHub as a node in Ripple’s credit network, directly linked to fiat-denominated values. Furthermore, an official image provided by Gatehub demonstrates its active integration with SWIFT, solidifying the connection between XRPL and the global financial infrastructure.
In light of this announcement, Gatehub has expanded its utility by supporting transfers across major networks, including SEPA, Bitcoin, and Ethereum. This innovation permits users to send and receive fiat currencies directly through XRPL wallets, thereby opening up real-world liquidity pathways. The corporation’s assertion underscores Ripple’s strategic positioning as a central infrastructure for global settlement.
The news also aligns with the Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse’s statements at the 2025 XRPL Apex event in Singapore, where he projected that XRPL could handle approximately 14% of SWIFT’s global transaction volume within the next five years. The Ripple chief executive emphasized that the future of cross-border payments relies less on messaging protocols and more on actual liquidity movement.
The XRP Ledger is poised to become a central settlement layer interfacing directly with major financial networks, including SWIFT.
