Putin and Xi Propose New BRICS Investment Platform to Boost Global South
In a move aimed at bolstering the economies of nations across the Global South and East, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese Premier Xi Jinping have proposed a new BRICS investment platform. The ambitious initiative is set to take center stage during the upcoming BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro early next month.
The newly proposed investment platform seeks to drive sustainable economic growth throughout BRICS member states and further solidify the organization’s position on the global stage. According to Russian presidential assistant Yuri Ushakov, the leaders thoroughly examined the progress of Russian initiatives from last year’s Kazan summit, including mutual settlements and industrial cooperation.
Putin emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration in sectors such as technology, education, trade, and finance, asserting that “our countries need to step up cooperation in these areas.” The Russian leader also underscored the necessity for increased capital investment.
