Aptos Tops Blockchain Ranking in Wyoming Stablecoin Pilot Selection
The Wyoming Stable Token Commission has announced the selection of Aptos and Sei as top candidates for its Wyoming stablecoin pilot program. In a surprising twist, Solana also achieved an identical score of 32 points with Aptos, but was not chosen for the pilot due to undisclosed decision criteria.
According to leaked information from an anonymous X user named Phillip, who is associated with the Sei project, the commission used performance tests to assess the blockchains before shortlisting Aptos and Sei for the WYST program. This comes as a significant victory for Aptos, which scored 32 points, along with Solana, but was ultimately chosen.
The Wyoming stablecoin, pegged to the US dollar and backed by short-duration US Treasury bonds, aims to operate under government oversight while maintaining compatibility across blockchain systems. LayerZero is working closely with the state to develop the WYST platform, which will be used for practical use cases testing during the pilot phase.
In other news, the US Senate has passed the GENIUS Act with a 68-30 vote, moving to advance stablecoin legislation and set federal standards for issuing stablecoins. The bill would define how companies operate under regulated structures.
Senator Bill Hagerty from Tennessee, who sponsored the bill, emphasized that once enacted, businesses of all sizes will be able to settle payments nearly instantaneously, rather than waiting days or sometimes weeks.
