Paramount May Not Be Done With ‘Transformers’ Movies Yet
It seems like the Autobots and Decepticons are far from saying goodbye to the big screen. According to Matt Belloni at Puck News, Paramount is spinning up multiple Transformers movies, which might just revive interest in the long-running franchise.
One of these projects will reportedly be a live-action film, directed by Josh Cooley, who also helmed the latest installment, Transformers One. This news comes as no surprise, given the underwhelming response to 2024’s Transformers One at the box office. However, it seems that Paramount is keen on giving the franchise another go.
The other project will allegedly involve Michael Bay returning to the helm, although it’s unclear whether he’ll be directing or just serving as a producer once more. Bay dipped out after 2017’s The Last Knight and has maintained a producing role since then. It’s worth noting that the franchise didn’t perform as well financially following his departure, which might explain Paramount’s desire to bring him back.
It remains to be seen whether these new projects will reignite interest in the Transformers brand or if it’s simply too late for such revivals. For now, fans of the franchise can take solace in knowing that the cinematic universe isn’t entirely out of the picture just yet.
