Nintendo is increasing the price of the original Switch in Canada
Nintendo of Canada has announced that it will be adjusting the pricing of its products, including the Switch console and accessories, effective August. The company cited “market conditions” as the reason for this change, which will see new prices posted on its Canadian website by August 1.
While details about the exact price increase have not been disclosed, it is likely that the prices of all Nintendo products in Canada, including games and Amiibo figures, will be rising. The current pricing of the Switch family of products stands at CA$400 for the standard console, CA$450 for the OLED model, and CA$269 for the Lite version.
It is worth noting that this change comes ahead of the release of the new Switch 2 console, which launched in June for CA$630. The introduction of tariffs by the US government in April may have contributed to Nintendo’s decision, as it could be seen as a way to factor in these increased costs.
