How to buy the Switch 2: Nintendo’s restock updates from Walmart, Best Buy and more
The wait is finally over for those eager to get their hands on the new Nintendo Switch 2 console. With a massive following and a slew of exciting new features, this device has been flying off shelves since its release on June 5. For those who have yet to snag one, you’re in luck – we’ve compiled a comprehensive list of where and when you can buy the Switch 2.
Walmart, one of the largest retailers in the US, most recently offered the console online on June 25, with Walmart+ members getting an exclusive hour-long head start. Currently, both the Mario Kart World bundle and standalone console are listed for much higher prices than their standard MSRP by third-party sellers. It’s recommended to wait it out for a restock at its regular price.
Best Buy made additional consoles available on June 11 around 12PM ET, and once again on June 23 after selling out quickly in the first few hours on launch day. These restocks were limited to an hour or less and required customers to opt for in-store pickup. Unfortunately, Best Buy is now sold out.
Target had inventory readily available in stores on June 5 and briefly restocked online a couple of times – once around 3:30AM ET on June 6 and again on June 12 at 2:30PM ET. These brief restocks were quickly snapped up by eager gamers, leaving the console hard to find.
GameStop has had the Switch 2 in-store availability since launch day, although online stock is currently unavailable.
Those looking for an invite-only purchase can try checking with Nintendo directly, which has been offering the console via an invitation system. To qualify, you’ll need to have been a Switch Online member for at least 12 months and logged at least 50 hours of playtime on your Switch 1 as of April 2.
