Exclusive: I Went on a Blind Date with a Guy Who Wasn’t Exactly My Type
As I sat across from my blind date, sipping wine and attempting to make small talk, it became increasingly clear that he wasn’t exactly the kind of guy I’d normally go for. In fact, his features seemed to blend together in a way that left me scratching my head.
“Blind Date: He isn’t good-looking and none of his features stood out – we have nothing in common”
I know what you’re thinking – why on earth would I agree to meet someone who doesn’t even catch my eye? But, desperate for love and tired of swiping through dating apps with no success, I decided to take a chance. And boy, was it an experience.
We started off discussing our jobs – he’s in finance, I’m a journalist – but before we knew it, the conversation had quickly turned into a dull exchange about spreadsheets and tax returns. I mean, who gets excited about that? Not me.
As we tried to move on to more lighthearted topics, things only got worse. He turned out to be a massive fan of 80s rock music, while my taste is stuck firmly in the 2000s with Britney and Justin Timberlake (shh, don’t tell anyone). We both agreed that we just didn’t have anything in common.
Despite our awkward date, I must admit that he was pleasant company – a quality I wouldn’t typically look for. It’s funny how these things happen, but I think it’s high time for me to be honest with myself about what I’m looking for.
