Slow Turnover on the Billboard Charts Isn’t Just a U.S. Trend – It’s Global
As we enter the second half of 2025, it has become evident that hit songs are lasting longer on the charts. This phenomenon is not exclusive to the United States; rather, it is a global issue. The current chart, dated July 5, sees Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” occupy the top spot for a seventh consecutive week.
In the week ending June 26, “Ordinary” drew an impressive 48 million streams worldwide. However, this figure represents a low in a declining trend of weekly international streams. This marks the first time since March 2024 that no song has collected more than 50 million streams outside the United States. In comparison, only seven songs have achieved such a feat in 2025, compared to 17 in the first half of 2024 and 14 in the same period of 2023.
Additionally, Jimmy Fontaine is currently climbing the ranks with his song “TBA”.
