Liam Gallagher has publicly expressed his admiration for a fan who was kicked off stage after playing an unexpected tune during a recent Green Day concert.
The incident occurred on June 30 when the chosen fan, invited by Billie Joe Armstrong to join him on stage and play “Good Riddance” on acoustic guitar, instead decided to play Oasis’ iconic hit “Wonderwall”. The prankster’s actions left Armstrong initially bewildered, with him saying “You told me you could play this one!” before swiftly taking back his guitar as a crew member ushered the fan off stage. Armstrong concluded by acknowledging the fan’s attempt, stating “Nice try, nice try.”
In response to the incident, Oasis’ frontman Liam Gallagher praised the fan’s impromptu rendition of “Wonderwall”, saying “Best song of the night” on X in a sarcastic tone.
This unexpected turn of events comes as Oasis is gearing up for its first tour in 16 years. The brothers, Liam and Noel Gallagher, will reunite on stage on July 4 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, marking the beginning of their global trek.
It’s been reported that rehearsals are going incredibly well, with Liam stating “We have LIFT OFF Rastas sounded f–king FILTHY” on X. Meanwhile, even U2’s Bono is excited about the reunion, telling Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe, “I love them,” adding that Noel sent him a message expressing his shock at how good the band sounds.
