**Daichi Miura Talks ‘Miraculous’ Effort of ‘Death Stranding 2’ Tracks, Perspective as a Longtime Video Game Aficionado**
In an exclusive interview with Billboard Japan, renowned pop star Daichi Miura delved into the creative process behind his tracks for Hideo Kojima’s highly anticipated video game, Death Stranding 2: ON THE BEACH. The 37-year-old artist has released a double A-sided single titled “Horizon Dreamer” and “Polytope,” which are both featured in the new game.
The song “Horizon Dreamer” boasts a unique primitive rhythm and melody that evokes a scene of people walking through the wilderness to reach a new land. According to Miura, Kojima-san emphasized that he didn’t want the song to simply reflect the world of Death Stranding 2 too much, but rather be a standalone Daichi Miura pop song with immense strength. Nao’ymt, who also co-produced and wrote the track, created it as a new composition for Miura, incorporating his musical progress up until now.
When asked about collaborating with Kojima-san again, Miura expressed deep admiration for the renowned game creator’s relentless dedication to his craft. “Kojima-san is someone who never compromises,” he stated firmly. “He is relentless in his craftsmanship.” He continued, praising Nao’ymt’s ability to transform the song into a pop masterpiece.
Regarding the video game itself, Miura emphasized its innovative nature and encouraged fans to experience it for themselves. As an avid gamer, Miura shared that he has been thinking about how Kojima-san’s works inspire countless people worldwide through their inclusive approach, allowing players to immerse themselves in an all-encompassing art form.
In discussing the reception of his tracks, Miura revealed his excitement and joy at being able to devote himself fully to the project. He also mentioned that he barely remembered anything about the performance of “Polytope,” as he was completely absorbed in expressing it during his concert.
The singer-songwriter also spoke about the significance of introducing Death Stranding 2: ON THE BEACH, and possibly reaching a global audience alongside the game’s release. However, when asked if this is part of his strategy, Miura humbly stated that he simply loves both gaming and music and is grateful to have had the opportunity to collaborate with Kojima-san again.
Miura has been vocal about his passion for video games through his TV show and other platforms. He emphasized that his love for gaming was not only as a fan but also as someone who appreciates the immersive experience provided by the medium.
