iOS 26 can freeze your FaceTime video if it detects nudity
In a recent discovery, tech sleuths have uncovered a new safety and privacy feature for FaceTime in the developer beta for iOS 26. According to reports, this feature will automatically pause audio and video on FaceTime if it detects that you are showing something sensitive or nude.
Once the nudity is detected, FaceTime will display a message informing you that “Audio and video are paused because you may be showing something sensitive. If you feel uncomfortable, you should end the call.” This feature can be enabled in FaceTime settings under “Sensitive Content Warning.”
While it’s unclear whether this feature was intended for child accounts only or not, it appears that Apple does not have access to the photos or videos detected as containing nudity. The company uses on-device machine learning to analyze these attachments and determine if they contain nudity.
It is worth noting that features in beta come and go, so it remains to be seen whether this feature will see broader adoption. The public beta for iOS 26 is scheduled for release in July.
