“It Was Horrific’: Radar Festival Speaks Out on Bob Vylan Cancellation
Radar Festival organizer Catherine Jackson-Smith has spoken out about the cancellation of punk-rap duo Bob Vylan, stating that it was a “horrific” experience.
In an interview with Two Promoters One Pod, Jackson-Smith revealed that Radar Festival did not want to cancel Bob Vylan from their lineup but were left with no choice after being presented with an ultimatum by the venue’s co-owners AMG and Live Nation. The cancellation decision was made due to pressure from local authorities.
According to Jackson-Smith, there was “no option” for Bob Vylan to step on stage Saturday at the festival, as the event would not have taken place if they continued with their performance. The organizer emphasized that it was Radar Festival’s intention to host the duo as part of their lineup, stating “I cannot express clearly enough that I wanted Bob Vylan to perform at our festival.”
However, following their controversial set at Glastonbury Festival, where they led chants of “death, death to the IDF” and called out the BBC, US and UK governments, Radar Festival was faced with an ultimatum: either cancel Bob Vylan or risk losing the entire Saturday program.
Jackson-Smith confirmed that efforts are underway to find a replacement headliner for Saturday’s performance.
