“It Was Horrific’: Radar Festival Speaks Out on Bob Vylan Cancellation
Manchester’s Radar Festival has spoken out about the cancellation of punk-rap duo Bob Vylan from its 2025 lineup. The decision was made in light of their controversial set at Glastonbury Festival, where they led chants of “death, death to the IDF” and criticized various institutions.
According to an interview with Billboard, Radar Festival organizer Catherine Jackson-Smith expressed her disappointment in being forced to drop Bob Vylan from the festival due to external pressures. “I cannot express clearly enough that I wanted Bob Vylan to perform at our festival,” she shared, highlighting the difficulty of replacing them as a last-minute replacement.
The backlash against the duo was swift and severe, with Glastonbury organizers issuing a statement condemning their remarks, stating they “very much crossed a line” and warning there is “no place at Glastonbury for anti-Semitism, hate speech or incitement to violence.” The impact of their performance has also extended beyond the festival, with Bob Vylan’s agency dropping them in the wake of the controversy, resulting in them being removed from upcoming shows.
Radar Festival has stated that they are actively searching for a replacement act to take Bob Vylan’s place on Saturday.
