XRP’s Code Was Written Before Bitcoin: A Must-Read Insight
A groundbreaking thread shared by crypto analyst Edo Farina has shed new light on the origins of blockchain technology. The investigation challenges the conventional origin story of blockchain and suggests that the XRP Ledger (XRPL) may have existed before Bitcoin.
According to Farina, XRPL.org was active as early as January 2007, hosted at the IP address 64.20.43.107. This revelation implies that XRP’s foundational codebase began development two years prior to Satoshi Nakamoto launching Bitcoin on January 3, 2009.
Further evidence supporting this claim comes from the discovery of other crypto-related domains hosted on the same IP address during the same period. These include RippleTrade.com, registered in September 2006, Bitcoin.com, registered in March 2007, CraigWright.net, linked to Mark Karpeles of Mt. Gox, registered in March 2007, and Smsz.net, which is associated with Mark Karpeles and was active from September 2006.
The shared hosting footprint suggests early collaboration or at least a shared technical infrastructure among key actors in the early crypto space, all before Bitcoin’s official launch.
