Grayscale Makes Significant Changes to its Funds with Q2 2025 Portfolio Update
In a major rebalancing effort, Grayscale Investments has announced the addition of Ondo (ONDO) to its DeFi Fund and the simultaneous removal of Polkadot (DOT) from the same fund. The company made these changes as part of its quarterly portfolio update for the second quarter of 2025.
According to the official statement, ONDO will join the DeFi Fund with an 18.22% weighting, marking a significant shift in the fund’s exposure to decentralized finance protocols. This addition reflects ONDO’s growing relevance within the DeFi ecosystem and Grayscale’s commitment to diversifying its holdings.
Meanwhile, Polkadot (DOT) has been removed from the Smart Contract Fund, making way for Hedera Hashgraph’s HBAR at a 5.80% weighting. The replacement highlights the company’s confidence in HBAR’s potential and relevance in the rapidly evolving smart contract landscape.
Notably, Grayscale did not make any changes to its Decentralized AI (AI) Fund, choosing instead to maintain its existing holdings and weightings. The fund’s top positions continue to be held by Bittensor, NEAR Protocol, Render, Filecoin, and The Graph, all of which are prominent players in the decentralized artificial intelligence space.
The company emphasized that these adjustments aim to maintain diversified exposure and adhere to index methodologies, ensuring that its funds track respective market capitalization dynamics. Grayscale’s strategy prioritizes innovation, volatility management, and regulatory uncertainty mitigation.
As a result, ONDO has become a significant addition to Grayscale’s portfolio, while Polkadot (DOT) is no longer part of the Smart Contract Fund. These changes underscore the company’s commitment to staying attuned to market developments and adapting its strategies accordingly.
It remains to be seen how these updates will impact the overall performance of the funds in the coming quarters.
