Even ‘Foundation’ Star Jared Harris Can’t Explain That Big Hari Seldon Mystery
As the latest season of Apple TV+’s adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s iconic novel series premieres on July 11, io9 had the opportunity to speak with star Jared Harris about his character, Hari Seldon. In an exclusive interview, Harris revealed that even he can’t fully explain a significant mystery surrounding Hari’s storyline.
At this point in the show, it’s clear that Hari’s journey has been riddled with complexity and unpredictability. As the creator of the Foundation, Harris’s character is now faced with the burden of knowing what the future holds, which ultimately leads to existential questions. When discussing the themes present in season three, Harris shared his thoughts on Hari’s role in the story.
“I think he’s definitely optimistic about humanity’s chances,” Harris expressed. “I think that the version of Hari that’s with Gaal feels that she’s going to be able to succeed given her incredible intelligence and unique abilities.”
Harris also touched upon the complexities of playing a character who exists in multiple timelines, noting that his experiences have had a profound impact on him.
“You don’t go through what he experienced without it profoundly affecting you,” Harris said. “And to some degree, you’re never going to be able to shake that off.”
