xAI starts offering Grok to US government agencies
Just days after apologizing for its recent hard turn toward antisemitism, xAI has announced a suite of AI products specifically designed for use by federal, state and local government agencies. The company’s new “Grok for Government” initiative brings together its latest commercial offerings, including Grok 4 and Deep Search, with special considerations given to the needs of national security and research customers.
According to xAI, it will design custom models for specific national security and research clients, as well as develop specialized AI applications for use in healthcare, fundamental science, and national defense. The company is also offering models that can be safely used in classified and restricted environments.
In a tweet, the company announced its new partnership with the US Department of Defense, revealing that it already has an existing contract with the government agency. Additionally, xAI’s products are now available for purchase through the General Services Administration schedule, making it accessible to every federal government department, agency, or office.
It is worth noting that OpenAI, a company co-founded by Elon Musk, recently launched ChatGPT Gov at the start of this year, aimed at providing AI services specifically designed for government agencies.
