‘Street-Level’ MCU Spider-Man Is Now Completely Confirmed
By Paul Tassi, Senior Contributor
I am excited to announce that the highly anticipated “street-level” version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Spider-Man has finally been confirmed. For a while now, fans have been hoping that Tom Holland’s character would return to its roots after exploring galactic battles and the multiverse in previous films.
It appears that this wish is being granted with the brand new “reset” initiative, known as Brand New Day. This comes after Marvel confirmed that Spider-Man will not be included in Avengers: Doomsday, as Tom Holland was absent from the infamous “chair name” stream.
I am thrilled to report that Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle, also known as The Punisher, has been confirmed to appear in this upcoming film. While it is important to note that the character’s inclusion will likely be a PG-13 version of The Punisher, there is no doubt that his presence will add an exciting element to the story.
In an interview with Flip Your Wig, Tom Holland shared some insight into what fans can expect from the new Spider-Man film. When asked about the movie’s filming locations, Holland mentioned that they are now free to “lean into old school filmmaking” and shoot in real locations, specifically highlighting their plans to use the streets of Glasgow for a massive set piece.
It is worth noting that recent reporting suggested Holland was in Scotland for Chris Nolan’s film The Odyssey. However, it appears that he was actually in Glasgow filming Spider-Man.
This news comes as a breath of fresh air for fans who were disappointed by the character’s departure from his roots. I am excited to see how this new direction will play out and what implications it may have on the future of the franchise.
