Drake’s Legal Team Names Possible Witnesses in UMG Lawsuit Over ‘Not Like Us’: See the List
As the evidence collection process gets underway in Drake’s defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG) over the Kendrick Lamar diss track “Not Like Us,” Drake’s legal team has revealed a surprisingly long list of potential witnesses. The list, which includes 63 names and entities, includes some high-profile figures.
According to a recent filing, it appears that Drake is seeking information from these individuals to prove his claims that UMG allegedly plotted to boost the popularity of Lamar’s chart-topping Interscope Records track, in which he called Drake a “certified pedophile.” The music giant vehemently denies the claims as “meritless.”
To gather evidence for the case, Drake’s legal team is targeting various individuals and entities. These include UMG employees, as well as several high-profile figures associated with Lamar.
The list includes numerous executives within the Universal Music Group organization, including CEO Sir Lucian Grainge and other top officials. Additionally, it appears that the team is interested in speaking to artists who have worked with both Drake and Lamar, potentially looking for evidence of any potential coordination or collusion between the two parties.
It’s worth noting that UMG’s initial disclosure is also attached as an exhibit to a recent motion. The music giant’s witness list, dated March 24, names just nine potential witnesses, including Drake himself and various record executives. Interestingly, Lamar’s name is not included in this list.
Drake has not accused Lamar of defamation, but it appears that he believes the Los Angeles-based rapper may have discoverable information about the creation and distribution of “Not Like Us.”
