Grok’s AI chatbot now includes companions for you to ‘romance’
In a move that is sure to raise some eyebrows, Grok has announced the addition of synthetic companions for its users to “enjoy” with. This new feature, available to paid subscribers only, takes the form of animated characters Ani and Rudy.
According to Elon Musk, who made the announcement, these digital beings will allow users to engage in romantic interactions with them. Ani, an anime-inspired woman, is described as a “digital waifu” for users to, well, get romantic with. Meanwhile, Rudy is a red panda with a mouth that’s not safe for work, and enjoys being rude to those he interacts with.
Both companions have their own X accounts, because why not? Ani’s bio reads: “Smooth, a little unpredictable – I might dance, tease, or just watch you figure me out. Let’s keep it chill… or not.” Rudy, on the other hand, simply says: “The Only Pet in Grok Companion.”
It appears that there are more AI companions on the way as well, including one called Chad (because of course). A male anime character, Chad is listed as “coming soon,” alongside another unnamed woman.
Grok’s move into the realm of digital romance is sure to generate a lot of buzz and attention. With Ani and Rudy already available, users can now choose from two unique companions with which to engage in romantic interactions. It will be interesting to see how this feature develops and what kind of user engagement it receives.
