Seagate HDDs For AI And Panmnesia’s Composable AI Infrastructure
With the rapid growth of Artificial Intelligence (AI) digital workloads and the increasing adoption of data sovereignty requirements by nearly 150 countries, the demand for robust data storage is escalating. This surge in demand has led to an increased focus on securing efficient and reliable storage solutions that support these emerging applications.
In light of this pressing need, Seagate Technology, a global leader in the digital storage space, has announced its latest innovation: Mozaic HDDs designed specifically for data center and enterprise applications. Additionally, Panmnesia, a cutting-edge fabless startup, has introduced its groundbreaking composable AI infrastructure solutions.
Seagate’s New Developments
Seagate’s announcement comes as no surprise, given the company’s long history of pushing the boundaries in digital storage technology. The brand has now shipped over 1 million Mozaic HAMR HDDs and is set to launch not one, but two new drives – Exos M and IronWolf Pro – built on its cutting-edge Mozaic 3+ platform.
These high-capacity drives will be available for purchase at a price of $599.99 each. While SSDs (Solid-State Drives) are poised to see significant growth in sales due to their higher performance capabilities, Seagate is countering with the launch of these new HDDs as a more cost-effective option for storing less frequently accessed data.
The Exos M drive is designed to provide high-capacity energy-efficient storage solutions that empower organizations to scale storage, optimize data placement and support real-time edge analytics. In contrast, IronWolf Pro HDDs are tailored to meet the requirements of on-premise NAS (Network-Attached Storage) systems. These drives will be utilized for supporting intensive workloads such as video analytics, image recognition, retrieval-augmented generation, RAG, and inferencing at the edge.
Innovative Features
Notably, Seagate is committed to environmental sustainability. The company has made a conscious effort to integrate more renewable energy sources into its production process and utilize recycled materials in their manufacturing processes. This commitment to green practices sets a new standard for the industry as Seagate’s drives are built with a higher percentage of renewable energy and recycled materials than any previous product.
Panmnesia: Composable AI Infrastructure
On the other hand, Panmnesia is dedicated to developing innovative interconnect technologies that enable organizations to create composable architectures. This means devices like GPUs, AI accelerators, memory modules, and other storage solutions can be easily added, removed or reconfigured to suit the demands of emerging AI workflows.
Panmnesia’s Link Solution Product Line
The company has announced a comprehensive product lineup that includes hardware components, silicon IPs (Intellectual Properties), software, and customized design solutions. These products are designed to minimize inter-device communication overhead, thereby accelerating AI workloads. The organization is also participating in various industry consortia such as the CXL consortium, UALink consortium, Open Compute Project, and PCI-SIG.
Seagate’s Mozaic HDDs for data centers and enterprise applications will provide a reliable and cost-effective storage solution, whereas Panmnesia’s composable AI infrastructure solutions aim to optimize workflows.
