Google has confirmed that Chrome is under attack again, with a new zero-day vulnerability affecting Windows PCs. The tech giant’s Threat Analysis Group discovered the issue and has promptly issued an emergency update to patch the exploit.
According to Google, the flaw in the browser’s graphics rendering engine is being exploited by sophisticated threat actors. As a result, users are advised to restart their browser as soon as possible to ensure their private browsing windows do not reopen without saving any needed information.
The U.S. government’s cyber defense agency, CISA, has issued an update mandate for federal employees to either update or stop using Chrome by July 23rd. It is likely that another mandate will be issued in the coming days.
