The concept behind thermal batteries is simple yet ingenious. They convert electrical energy into heat, which can then be released at a later time with very little loss. In contrast to lithium-ion battery installations, which have round-trip efficiencies of around 90%, thermal batteries achieve an impressive efficiency rate of 98-99%.
