The First Trailer for ‘Mortal Kombat II’ Is a Johnny Cage-filled Extravaganza
Warner Bros. has finally dropped the long-awaited trailer for Mortal Kombat II, and it’s a wild ride. The sequel film promises to be an explosive, over-the-top extravaganza that puts all eyes on none other than B-movie star and ninja-fighting sensation Johnny Cage (played by Karl Urban). In this new clip, we’re treated to a healthy dose of intense martial arts action, gruesome fatalities, and more cameos than you can shake a stick at.
As the first film wrapped up with Cole Young’s journey, Mortal Kombat II shifts gears to make Cage the central figure in the story. While fans might be concerned about this drastic change in focus, it seems that Warner Bros. is banking on Urban’s charisma and comedic skills to carry the show. And who can blame them? The man’s got talent oozing out of every pore.
The new trailer puts viewers right back into the thick of the action-packed world of Mortal Kombat, with a few surprise twists thrown in for good measure. The film boasts an all-star cast, including Cole Young (Lewis Tan), Scorpion (Hiroyuki Sanada), Sub-Zero (Joe Taslim), Sonya Blade (Jessica McNamee), Liu Kang (Ludi Lin), Jax (Mehcad Brooks), and Raiden (Tadanobu Asano). Don’t forget the likes of Kano (Josh Lawson) and Kung Lao (Max Huang).
In a shocking turn, we’ll also be seeing Kitana (Adeline Rudolph) and Shao Kahn (Martyn Ford), who’s back to wreak havoc in the arena. The tournament is officially ON.
With an October 24 release date, Mortal Kombat II has got some serious competition from Street Fighter, which is rumored to be gathering its own roster of A-list celebrities. We’ll have to wait and see if this sequel can hold its ground.
