The White House has pushed back against growing demands to release the files related to Jeffrey Epstein’s case. According to sources close to the situation, President Donald Trump believes the Justice Department should focus on more pressing issues and is not recommending a special prosecutor be appointed.
In response to criticism from both sides of the aisle regarding transparency in this matter, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt expressed frustration with the lack of action during the previous administration. “The fact that Democrats have now seized on this as if they ever wanted transparency when it comes to Jeffrey Epstein and his heinous crimes,” Leavitt said.
Leavitt continued by stating that President Trump is more concerned about other issues, such as the GENIUS Act and the border. This stance aligns with a previous statement made by Trump, who claimed the Justice Department has “bigger problems” than the Epstein case.
The administration’s stance on releasing these files comes amid growing tensions between Republicans and Democrats over what they see as a lack of transparency regarding Epstein’s death while in custody.
