Benchmark in talks to lead Series A for Greptile, valuing AI-code reviewer at $180M, sources say
Greptile, an innovative AI-powered code review startup, is reportedly negotiating a Series A funding round led by Benchmark partner Eric Vishria. According to multiple sources familiar with the deal, the transaction would result in a valuation of $180 million for the company.
Founded by Dasksh Gupta after he graduated from Georgia Tech in 2023, Greptile went through Y Combinator in the winter of 2024 cohort and later secured a $4 million seed round led by Initialized Capital. Gupta explained to this reporter that his AI-code reviewer bot operates as an experienced coworker, having an extraordinary understanding of the customer’s code, which enables it to pinpoint bugs and other potential issues that human reviewers might miss.
In the highly competitive AI-code review space, Greptile is set to face off against prominent rivals Graphite, a startup that earlier this year received $52 million in Series B funding from Accel with backing from Anthropic’s Anthology Fund and Menlo Ventures, among others. Another key competitor is Coderabbit, which secured $16 million in Series A funding last year from CRV.
Under pressure to outperform the competition, Greptile has been driven to require its staff to work exceptionally long hours. Gupta shared on X that his company “offers no work-life-balance.” Employees typically work from 9 am until 11 pm, including Saturdays, and occasionally Sundays.
