Natalie Bergman is thrilled to share her latest solo album, ‘My Home Is Not in This World’, which marks a new chapter in her artistic journey. In the past, she was part of the brother-sister duo Wild Belle, creating music that centered around love and heartache inspired by Chicago’s soul roots. However, this newfound freedom has allowed Bergman to explore different themes.
The first song she wrote for the album came from a loss of identity after giving birth to her first child. The experience was an eye-opener as it forced her to redefine herself outside of her role as an artist and mother. As she navigated the ups and downs of parenting, Bergman found inspiration in her newfound role.
The album is deeply personal, tackling themes of grief and darkness but also embracing life’s beauty and light. “Song For Arthur” serves as a standout track, dedicated to her son, where she sings “I couldn’t sing one note/How my aching heart had lost all its hope/until you give me a reason.” Bergman stresses that motherhood was not only a grounding experience but also an opportunity for self-discovery.
