A new contender has taken the crown of Britain’s cheapest electric car, and it’s not a surprise from a familiar name. Leapmotor, a Chinese brand, has slashed the prices of its models to compete in an increasingly competitive market.
The latest price cut has put the Leapmotor T03 at £14,495, making it the most affordable new EV sold in the country. This is a significant drop of £1,500 from its previous price tag, which was £15,995. The reduced cost does not come without some controversy, as reports suggest that this brand may not qualify for the government’s Electric Vehicle (EV) grant due to sustainability criteria.
Leapmotor has responded by launching its own self-funded EV grant, aptly named ‘The Leap-Grant.’ This initiative is designed to provide customers with an immediate financial saving. In a statement, the company emphasized their commitment to making the switch to electric cars easy and accessible for drivers in the UK.
