Jelly Roll brought the heat during his second night as a guest host on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, debuting what he called a new “single” – a song comprised of hateful comments about himself that people have shared online. The country star delivered the scathing track, which features a collection of cruel and hurtful messages he’s received from internet users.
The singer-songwriter took to the stage, crooning about the negativity he’s faced, including gems like “I used to hate Jelly Roll. I still do,” “Bro! It’s way too Go–amn early to be listening to Jelly Roll,” and “Jelly Roll looks like a meth addict grabbed a microphone.” He also poked fun at one particularly vicious tweet that read, “Jelly Roll is an embarrassment to society.”
Throughout his hosting stint, Jelly Roll showed off his quick wit and sharp tongue, addressing the backlash with humor and humility. The musician also celebrated National Tattoo Day by joking about his own ink and sharing some of the most egregious examples he’s seen on the streets and online.
In other developments from Thursday night’s show, Jelly Roll welcomed comedian Kevin James to the stage for a hilarious guitar jam session, in which they teased an upcoming country-themed movie project they’re working on.
