FBI Director Kash Patel has announced the arrest and indictment of 70 people for their role in a massive $250 million COVID-era fraud scheme. This historic case, which is the largest in Minnesota history, was discovered to have exploited a federally funded children’s nutrition program during the pandemic.
According to information from FBI officials, the scammers falsely claimed to have served millions of meals throughout the state during the COVID-19 pandemic, but instead used the money for personal gain. The scheme saw over $250 million diverted to fund luxuries such as mansions and high-end vehicles.
In a statement released by Fox News, Patel praised the efforts of his team and their partners in dismantling the network of corruption and ensuring that those responsible will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
“This egregious fraud unveiled in the Feeding our Future case epitomizes a profound betrayal of public trust,” said FBI Special Agent in Charge Alvin Winston. “These individuals misappropriated hundreds of millions in federal funds intended to nourish vulnerable children during a time of crisis, redirecting those resources into luxury homes, high-end vehicles, and extravagant lifestyles while families faced hardship.”
Patel emphasized that the FBI will continue to uncover schemes, dismantle networks, and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
The investigation is ongoing, with several trials already concluded.
