
Musicians React to Stephen Colbert’s ‘The Late Show’ Cancellation
In the wake of the surprise announcement that CBS has canceled “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” a slew of musicians are taking to social media to express their shock and disappointment over the news.
Rachel Zegler, known for her role in West Side Story, took to Instagram to share her feelings, stating simply: “i am extremely sad. i adore you, stephen.” The comment section was filled with fans and fellow artists alike expressing their grief and appreciation for Colbert’s work.
Kristin Chenoweth, a frequent guest on the show, shared her own reaction, writing: “NOOOO!!!”
Charlamagne tha God, known for his provocative opinions, had a slightly different take. He expressed his theory that the cancellation may have been influenced by political reasons, stating: “Paramount bending the knee to authoritarian strategy. I guess it’s Make America North Korea now!!! Appreciate you Always SC!!!”
Questlove, founder of Okayplayer and drummer for The Roots, also responded on Instagram, sharing a post about the news but adding an eye-rolling emoji at the end.
The cancellation of the show comes after a decade-long run that has featured musical performances from artists such as Doechii, Gracie Abrams, and others.
