Today’s NYT Strands Puzzle: Hints, Spangram And Answers For Saturday, July 19th
As the weekend approaches, we’re all eager to dive into today’s puzzle challenge from The New York Times. In this daily installment of Strands, I, Erik Kain, have returned with a vengeance, ready to provide you with hints and answers for your gaming satisfaction.
For those who are new to this game, let me brief you on the rules: every day, we’re presented with a unique puzzle grid that is part of The New York Times’ growing collection. Our mission is to uncover all words on the board that fit a given theme. We must also find a specific spangram that spans across two sides of the board, revealing additional insights into the theme.
Today’s Theme and Hints
Instead of sharing the initial letters for each word as before, I’m excited to offer three hints to help you solve today’s puzzle. The twist? These hints are focused on words one would describe warm places with, specifically this season.
Clue: Okay, warm is an understatement. Here are the first two letters of each word: BA SC MU ST SW SU
Remember, spoilers ahead!
Answers and Spangram
After solving today’s puzzle, I can now reveal that the spangram reads SUMMERWEATHER. Furthermore, the list of completed words consists of BALMY, SCORCHING, MUGGY, STICKY, SWELTERING.
Today’s Strands Breakdown
As I recently returned from a trip to Phoenix, Arizona, “hot enough for ya?” is quite timely. While Phoenix may not be characterized by the term MUGGY at all, neither would one use BALMY to describe it either. On the other hand, STICKY and SCORCHING accurately portray this desert city’s sweltering heat. And with a pool, it can also become lovely – but only with air-conditioning.
It appears that today’s puzzle was rather easy, so how did you fare? Kindly share your Strands experience on Twitter or Facebook.
