Nicki Shamel has been appointed as the new head of TuneCore’s U.S. operations.
In her new role, Shamel will oversee a team focused on artist acquisition and growth strategies in the United States. Additionally, she will be responsible for aligning the company’s DSP partnerships with the goal of improving services to artists. This includes championing TuneCore’s suite of products and services, including their accelerator program, which offers resources such as marketing and promotion assistance.
Shamel joins TuneCore from AWAL, where she served as senior vice president and developed the global commercial partnerships team. Prior to her time at AWAL, Shamel worked in international marketing and sales roles at Sony Music for seven years. She also has experience in digital marketing with Primary Wave Music.
Based in New York, Shamel will report directly to TuneCore’s chief revenue officer, Brian Miller.
Shamel expressed gratitude in a statement, saying she is honored to join TuneCore at this pivotal moment in the company’s mission to empower and develop independent artists. She emphasized the importance of TuneCore’s commitment to artist development, combined with its cutting-edge technology and innovative programs like the Accelerator, which propels independent artists’ careers.
Miller also commended Shamel’s track record of empowering artists, stating that she is the ideal candidate to drive the next phase of TuneCore’s strategy in the US market.
Shamel’s appointment comes at a time when TuneCore is doubling down on its mission to support and help artists build lasting, successful careers on their own terms.
