Uber Eats Injects Artificial Intelligence into Your Meal Experience
In a bold move to revolutionize the food delivery experience, Uber Eats has announced the integration of various artificial intelligence (AI) features designed to enhance its platform. This new development aims to improve the shopping experience for users and help merchants attract more customers.
One such innovation is the AI-enhanced food image feature, which allegedly makes dishes more appealing by uploading improved photos. According to a press release from Uber Eats, this technology takes close-up images of food and transforms them into wider, more comprehensive shots that showcase plated dishes. However, it’s essential to note that this tool creates portions of the image that were not previously present, leaving its accuracy still in question.
Another AI-powered feature is menu descriptions, which will now be automatically generated with the goal of ensuring their accuracy. This means that customers can feel more confident when placing orders as they’ll have access to detailed information about the dishes they’re interested in. Additionally, this technology will summarize restaurant reviews to highlight areas for improvement and notable strengths.
As part of its efforts to improve customer satisfaction, Uber Eats is also encouraging users in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the UK to provide photos of delivered food items that lack menu images. In exchange for these submissions, customers can earn a $3 credit in their Uber Cash accounts.
Furthermore, the company has announced the introduction of “Live Order Chat,” which will allow merchants to initiate conversations with customers directly after an order is placed.
