With the resurgence of fake movie bands in recent movies and their impressive chart performances, it’s exciting to revisit some of the most iconic and catchy fake songs from genre films over the past three decades. We’ve curated a list of the top 10 best tracks that have either already achieved mainstream success or are so infectious they’ll stick with you long after the credits roll.
Our number one spot goes to Powerline from A Goofy Movie, the OG (original gangster) of modern fake music pop stars. “I2I” stands out as a blueprint for future power-pop anthems and deserves its top ranking on this list.
Another standout is Gazelle’s “Try Everything” from Zootopia – a song that has become synonymous with dance battles and Nick Wilde’s smooth moves. The chorus of “Nobody Like U” from Turning Red, produced by Billie Eilish and Finneas, is stuck in our heads as well.
We also can’t overlook the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack, which boasts too many killer tracks to pick just one. Although we have a special spot for “Soda Pop,” it’s Huntr/x that earns recognition with their powerful anthem “Golden.” This song shines because of lyricist Ejae’s heartfelt performance, and its replayability among young animation fans is unmatched.
To make this list, we excluded musicals and only considered movies that had original songs featured in them.
