**Chainlink Breaks New Ground with Real-Time US Equities Data Stream**
In a groundbreaking move, Chainlink has launched a real-time US equities data stream on 37 blockchain networks. This innovative development could potentially revolutionize the way financial markets operate by bridging the gap between traditional finance and blockchain technology.
The new product, referred to as Data Streams, delivers live pricing data for major US stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) directly onto blockchain platforms. According to an official statement from Chainlink, Data Streams is designed to support innovative use-cases like tokenized stock trading, perpetual futures, and synthetic ETFs.
The data stream aggregates real-time information from multiple primary and backup sources to ensure continuous uptime. This information is then processed through Chainlink’s decentralized oracle networks (DONs) and delivered on-chain using a structured format. Crucially, each data point comes with a timestamp, enabling platforms to differentiate between fresh and outdated prices. Moreover, the system automatically suspends trading during market closures, ensuring seamless integration with traditional markets.
Chainlink’s Chief Business Officer, Johann Eid, emphasized the significance of this development, stating that “this is a critical milestone towards creating a truly composable on-chain financial system that matches the scale and sophistication of traditional markets.”
Notably, prominent DeFi protocols like GMX and Kamino Finance have already adopted Data Streams. The co-founder of Kamino Finance, Thomas Short, highlighted the advantages of Chainlink’s technology in enhancing user experience by providing a seamless interface while maintaining trust and security across supported projects.
The launch of this real-time US equities data stream on 37 blockchain networks paves the way for the next wave of blockchain financial innovation.
