Cardi B ‘Enough (Miami)’ Lawsuit: Producers Want Track Kept Off ‘Am I the Drama?’
A copyright infringement lawsuit filed last summer by Joshua Fraustro and Miguel Aguilar, who produced rapper Sten Joddi’s track “Greasy FryBread” in 2021, has taken an unexpected turn. The producers are now seeking a court order that would prohibit Cardi B (Belcalis Almánzar) from including the disputed single on her highly anticipated sophomore album, Am I the Drama?.
The lawsuit alleges that Cardi B lifted the melody and bassline of “Greasy FryBread” for her March 2024 hit single “Enough (Miami),” which peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart after just one week’s release.
In their latest motion, Fraustro and Aguilar’s attorney Robert Flores stated that if Cardi B is allowed to include the allegedly plagiarized track on Am I the Drama?, it would cause irreparable damage to the plaintiffs. “Enjoining the release of one song from an album with 23 song slots is less damage than allowing it to be released,” Flores wrote.
The majority of the tracklist for Am I the Drama? remains under wraps, but sources have revealed that other singles such as “Outside” and a yet-to-be-released song called “Imaginary Players” will make the cut. Cardi B has previously confirmed that she will not feature her earlier chart-toppers “Up” and “WAP” on the album.
The legal team representing Cardi B, Atlantic Records, and Warner Music Group have consistently dismissed the lawsuit as “utterly meritless.” They point out that Fraustro and Aguilar lack a valid copyright registration for “Greasy FryBread.”
In light of this development, representatives from Cardi’s camp declined to comment on the matter.
