If the iPhone 17 doesn’t get ProMotion, I won’t be upgrading my iPhone 12
As a loyal iPhone user since 2020 when I purchased an iPhone 12 to replace my aging Pixel 3, I’m still holding onto my current device despite its age. The reason is simple – Apple has yet to bring the feature that matters most to me: a ProMotion display. This technology offers a high refresh rate and smooth interaction on the screen.
Apple introduced this functionality in its iPhone 13 series, where every Pro model got a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother visuals and better gaming performance. Since then, every subsequent Pro device has adopted this feature. High refresh rates are no longer unique to any one brand or product category – even budget-friendly Android devices have started incorporating them as standard.
To me, the absence of ProMotion on the iPhone 12 means that there’s little reason to upgrade to a newer model.
