Amazon’s video game anthology Secret Level is getting a second season
Amazon’s push into adapting and developing video games shows no signs of slowing down. Today, the company announced that its animated anthology series Secret Level has been renewed for a second season on Prime Video.
The news comes as Amazon continues to find its footing in both game development and publishing, as well as adapting popular IPs for its streaming service. This year saw major hits with Fallout and Yakuza, with a Tomb Raider series also in the works.
Secret Level, which just premiered on Prime Video, has been met with mixed reviews. The show’s 15 episodes span a range of notable video game franchises, including Warhammer 40,000, Dungeons & Dragons, Mega Man, and the recently shuttered Sony shooter Concord. The series’ tone has been criticized for awkwardly straddling the line between TV show and advertisement.
One particular episode, a dark reimagining of Pac-Man, raised eyebrows due to its unexpected connection to an upcoming game release.
