OpenAI says it has no plans for a Sora API — yet
OpenAI has announced that it does not currently have any plans to release an API for its AI model, Sora. The announcement comes after the company’s AMA (ask me anything) session with members of OpenAI’s dev team.
During the session, Romain Huet, head of developer experience at OpenAI, responded to a question about whether or not there are any plans for a Sora API, stating that “We don’t have plans for a Sora API yet.”
It is currently unclear why OpenAI does not plan to release an API for its model. However, it’s possible that the company may be focusing on other priorities at this time.
OpenAI recently had to close applications for its Sora-powered video creation and editing suite shortly after its launch due to heavier-than-anticipated traffic.
