Apple Maps’ Look Around is now available on the web
Apple has finally made its response to Google Street View accessible on the web. As of today, users can access Apple’s beta version of Maps for the web and explore cities virtually using the new “Look Around” feature.
To initiate exploration, simply click on the binocular icon at the bottom left corner of the map. This will allow you to navigate streets, drag the screen, and view 360-degree images with ease. It is important to note that this feature’s availability is currently limited to select cities in the United States, Japan, and certain European Union countries.
The beta version of Apple Maps for the web was first launched in July, but Look Around was initially unavailable at that time. Despite limitations on device and browser compatibility, users were still able to utilize other features such as directions and guides. The promise from Apple to add more capabilities has now been fulfilled with the addition of Look Around.
While the current coverage is somewhat restricted, there are hints within Apple Maps suggesting that expansion plans are in the works. According to MacRumors, these plans involve including smaller cities and rural areas into the Look Around network as well as incorporating additional countries like Egypt, China, and Mexico.
It’s worth noting that this feature may not be available universally due to geographical limitations.
