Arm Squares Off Against Qualcomm: Day 2
The second day of testimony has concluded in the high-stakes legal battle between Arm and Qualcomm. The dispute centers around the acquisition of Nuvia by Qualcomm and the use of Nuvia technology in Qualcomm’s latest SoCs.
The main contention revolves around whether Qualcomm has the right to use Nuvia technology under the licenses it acquired. Arm claims that it has the right to continue developing and utilizing this technology, while Qualcomm asserts that they have the autonomy to do as they please with their newly acquired assets.
Meanwhile, another significant aspect of the case is the alleged misappropriation of confidential information from Nuvia to Arm. Nuvia had been working closely with Arm on the development of the CMN-700 and CMN-650 platforms, providing suggestions for improvement and early access as a lead partner. However, this cooperation was cut short when Qualcomm acquired Nuvia.
The jury will need to decide whether Qualcomm has the right to use Nuvia technology under either the Nuvia ALA or the Qualcomm ALA licenses.
