Ripple CTO Clears Up Critical AMM Misconception
In a recent statement, David Schwartz, Chief Technology Officer at Ripple, shed light on the misconception surrounding the potential of increasing transaction per second (TPS) levels on blockchain platforms. Specifically, he emphasized that reaching high TPS levels might lead to higher costs for bandwidth, storage, and computing power for all participants.
As TPS increases, so do these costs. This could result in fewer individuals finding it worthwhile to run a node, thereby reducing the overall node count. A decrease in node count translates into users relying more heavily on others’ nodes, diminishing decentralization – a core principle of blockchain technology.
Schwartz’s words highlight an essential consideration for any blockchain platform aiming to achieve high TPS levels while maintaining its decentralized nature.
