Title: A New Decentralized Supercomputer is Being Built with 1.5 Million Nodes
According to the latest news, a new decentralized supercomputer is being constructed by Nexus, which recently concluded its test network on December 13th. This ambitious project aims to revolutionize the way we process data and calculations, and it’s clear that there is a significant global interest in this technology.
Daniel Marin, CEO of Nexus, emphasized that while they have seen considerable enthusiasm for their blockchain-based AI innovations, there is still much work to be done before scaling globally. The test network demonstrated an impressive 37% of traffic coming from mobile devices, which surpassed the usage rates of traditional desktop computers in some countries such as Ethiopia and Poland.
In a surprising twist, Marin revealed that Nexus will make it easier for anyone to join their distributed testing network using any device. This marks a significant departure from their initial plan to restrict access to certain nodes. Despite the decentralization of their nodes, Nexus will maintain strict oversight over the supercomputer’s processes to ensure smooth operations.
The company is currently selecting programs to integrate with this new system and is planning to introduce an evaluation process in the future for submitting new applications. While not the first to harness distributed computing power, Nexus is taking a bold step forward by building a massive network of 1.5 million nodes.
It’s interesting to note that SETI@home, a project run by the University of California at Berkeley, was also an early pioneer in this space, using internet-connected computers for extraterrestrial life detection. However, it ceased operations in 2020. Other players like Internet Computer, Golem Network, and Zennet have also explored similar infrastructure.
The Nexus CEO acknowledged that his company is not the first to venture into decentralized computing, but the scale and ambition of this project sets it apart from its predecessors. The test network has shown remarkable results, and with the right partnerships, Nexus aims to take this technology mainstream.
Stay tuned for further updates on this groundbreaking initiative!
