Stuart Alderoty Urges SEC Reform on 4th XRP Case Anniversary
Stuart Alderoty has taken to social media to urge the incoming administration to reform the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) following the fourth anniversary of the agency’s controversial lawsuit against Ripple. The suit, which was filed in December 2020, alleged that XRP is an unregistered security.
In his tweet, Alderoty stressed that it is crucial for the SEC to restore trust in light of the agency’s actions. He called out William Hinman, a former Director of Corporation Finance at the SEC, who previously stated that Ethereum was not a security. Ripple has repeatedly argued that this speech caused confusion regarding the legal status of XRP.
Stuart Alderoty, Ripple’s Chief Legal Officer, emphasized that the case has had far-reaching implications and is a testament to the need for reform within the SEC.
