**Trump Will Be “Very Active” on the Campaign Trail in 2026 Midterms, Republican Party Chair Predicts**
The Chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC), Michael Whatley, has indicated that former President Donald Trump will be highly engaged in supporting Republican candidates in the 2026 midterm elections.
Whatley made his comments during an interview with Fox News Digital at the RNC headquarters in Washington D.C. last week. He stated, “I think you’ll see Donald Trump being very active on the campaign trail,” emphasizing that Trump’s involvement will be a crucial factor in the upcoming midterms.
As reported by Fox News, Whatley emphasized the importance of Trump’s influence in the Republican Party’s fundraising efforts, stating that the former president’s appeal has helped to boost the party’s financial capabilities. “We’re pretty excited about where we are in terms of the fundraising that we did throughout the course of this cycle and what we’re going to do going forward,” he said.
Whatley also dismissed claims that the RNC’s ground game efforts during the 2024 general election were ineffective, highlighting the party’s focus on outreach to traditionally underrepresented communities. He claimed that these efforts led to significant shifts in support from key demographics, including Black voters, Hispanic voters, Asian American voters, young voters, and women voters.
The RNC chair acknowledged the need for Republicans to continue this grassroots approach, emphasizing his commitment to building a robust ground game for the 2026 midterm elections. “In a midterm election cycle, low propensity voters are going to, again, be very important for us,” he explained.
Whatley’s comments suggest that Trump’s presence will be instrumental in rallying Republican support and boosting the party’s prospects in next year’s midterms.
