Montenegro Court Rejects Do Kwon’s Appeal, Clears Path for Extradition Decision
The Constitutional Court of Montenegro has officially rejected an appeal by Do Kwon, co-founder of Terraform Labs, denying his plea to have the extradition process restarted. This decision is crucial as it paves the way for a conclusive extradition determination.
Do Kwon has been detained in Montenegro since October 2022 after he was arrested while attempting to use a forged passport. The allegations against him include causing massive financial losses amounting to $34.26 billion, stemming from the Terra-Luna cryptocurrency crash.
Kwon’s legal team had questioned the transfer of their client to South Korea, arguing that it would infringe upon his rights to a fair trial and family life. However, the Constitutional Court has now deemed these concerns unfounded.
The latest development sets the stage for an imminent decision regarding Kwon’s extradition to either South Korea or the United States, where he could potentially face charges in connection with the alleged crypto scam.
Crypto enthusiasts are keenly monitoring the situation as it may have significant implications for the global crypto market.
