Bluesky adds Trending topics to its arsenal
Bluesky has announced the addition of a new feature to its mobile app: a list of trending topics that reveals what’s currently popular among its users. This feature, which is currently marked as a beta release, allows users to access associated posts related to each topic by simply tapping on it.
The trending topics can be accessed through the search icon at the bottom of the screen on the mobile app or via the left sidebar on the web version. When you select this option, lists of trending and recommended subjects will appear below the search bar.
In my test run, some of the top trending topics included Christmas and Nosferatu – an unexpected yet interesting combination of topics.
If users prefer not to see these trending topics, they can easily opt-out by tapping on the small “x” in the upper right corner or by navigating to Settings > Content & Media and toggling off Enable Trending Topics. The company has also emphasized that this feature is still in its first iteration and encourages user feedback to further improve it.
For now, it appears that Bluesky’s trending topics are focused on providing users with a quick snapshot of what’s currently popular among the platform’s community.
