As we close out another year, it’s time to reflect on what didn’t quite pan out as promised. In the realm of artificial intelligence, it seems 2024 was a year of underwhelming expectations.
While the tech giants continued to tout the “revolutionary” advancements in AI, I’m left feeling disappointed and somewhat betrayed. The reality is that we’re still stuck in the same old cycle of incremental improvements, with little to show for the numerous promises made over the years.
Let’s face it – 2024 was supposed to be the year AI finally took center stage. We were promised breakthroughs in natural language processing, computer vision, and more. But what did we get? More of the same old hype and marketing fluff.
The truth is, AI hasn’t quite reached its “promised land” yet. I’m not saying it won’t happen eventually, but 2024 was supposed to be the year we started making significant progress. Instead, we’re stuck in an endless cycle of beta tests, experimental features, and empty promises.
Major chipmakers will continue to tout their new CPUs as revolutionary breakthroughs, while Google, Microsoft, and Apple try to outdo each other with their AI-based assistants. It’s all the same old song and dance, folks.
So, what did we get in 2024? More noise, more hype, and a whole lot of nothing.
