Xbox Games Pass: the best games from 2024
If you’re looking to dig into some amazing gaming experiences without breaking the bank, then Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass is the way to go. Despite not being the strongest year for Xbox exclusives, the subscription service still offers a diverse selection of titles that cater to every kind of player.
From post-apocalyptic wastelands to cozy sci-fi futures, there’s something for everyone on this platform. In 2024, we saw everything from new blockbuster releases to smaller indie games and older titles to round out the package.
To help you navigate this vast library, I’ve curated a list of nine fantastic games that are currently available on Game Pass.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
Now that Activision Blizzard is under the Microsoft umbrella, we’re seeing some big changes. The publisher’s biggest franchise is now part of Game Pass, and with it comes the latest installment in the Call of Duty series. Enjoy all of the game’s various modes, including its cinematic single-player campaign and multiplayer options like Zombies.
Fallout: New Vegas
It seems that Amazon’s live-action Fallout show has everyone thinking about a return to the wasteland. And what better way to do so than by jumping into the world of Fallout with Game Pass? The service has every game in the series from Fallout 3 onwards, but I highly recommend checking out New Vegas. Not only does this location offer up a great setting for a Fallout game, but it also helps bring you in line with your modern successors.
Nine Sols
In a year that was fantastic for roguelike action games, Nine Sols manages to stand out by offering combat that’s so engaging it makes up for an underwhelming story. It’s the kind of action that rewards patience and learning to parry, which only adds to the satisfaction when you emerge victorious.
Persona 3 Reload
If you’ve somehow managed to finish the sprawling Metaphor: ReFantazio, then there are thankfully plenty of excellent older titles from developer Atlus to dive into. And this year, we saw an incredible remake of Persona 3 that helps bring it in line with its more modern counterparts.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II
The original Hellblade was just as terrifying as it was uncomfortable – and the sequel is no exception. Instead of changing the formula that made the game so successful, Ninja Theory has expanded the scale, improved the action, and even made the horror elements scarier. What sets this game apart is its ability to be completed in around 10 hours, making it a rare short blockbuster.
Starfield: Shattered Space
As an excuse to jump back into this sci-fi universe, the first major expansion for Starfield is a great reason to revisit this world. While I wish Shattered Space leaned more into cosmic horror, it’s still a unique experience that lets you spend your time exploring one massive planet rather than constantly jumping around the galaxy.
These nine games are just a small sampling of what Game Pass has to offer. With so many incredible titles available, there’s something for everyone on this platform. So why not give it a try?
